It's Week 5 now, and our AGM is fast-approaching - must be time for another newsletter!

Hello everyone, and welcome to Week 5 - I'm not sure where the weeks have gone, to be honest, so let's get straight into the news for this week!

It's Monday, so you know what that means - we're off to the pub for a meal and some chat - and this week we'll be heading over to Varsity (which is on campus)! We'll be meeting outside DCS around 6:30 tonight - hope to see ya there!

🎮 Friday Night Gaming

[Week 5] Friday 11th Feb, 7pm-12am, Department of Computer Science

Come join us in the ground floor of DCS, as we kick our feet up and relax by playing some games. We'll be putting out our range of consoles, and Steam is up and running for you to use your library, but we also have our very own GamingGet software where you can download and play a bunch of DRM-Free games, no login required. We now have a second switch available, and to top it all off, we'll have VR available too!

AGM Reminder

Our Annual General Meeting is less than a fortnight away now, and while it's too late to get your membership in order to vote, you can still submit constitution-changing motions up until 5pm on Friday. If this is something you are planning to do, use the template below and post it in the #exec channel of our Discord server:

Optiver TraderHack

Optiver has exciting news for students with serious coding skills. They’re inviting you to join TraderHack, a coding competition that dives into the fascinating world of algorithmic trading. While working in a team or individually, you’ll go head-to-head with participants from across Europe, the UK and the US. And there’s a major reward on the line for the team with the cleverest code: up for grabs is a first-place prize of €10,000 for the team (or individual) with the best performing algorithm on Optiver’s simulated exchange.

After 24-hours spent building and optimizing, your trading algorithm will be put to the test on Optiver’s live simulated exchange. Our judges will then determine the best performing and most creative solutions to land you a place in the top three teams. Do you have what it takes to program under the pressure of the markets?
