The mysteries of where we keep our gaming servers has finally been unveiled! We now have a page up at /gaming/servers which lists all of our gaming servers, tells you wether they're up and how long they've been up, what map they're on and how many players are using them. If you click the "info" links, you can also see who's on them.

The Linux User Group is hosting a free guest lecture tomorrow (Wednesday 21st January) by Jason Clifford of ukfsn.org, an ISP which he runs using Linux and which donates all its profits to free software projects. The LUG is hosting a free guest lecture this Wednesday (21st Jan) at 4pm, in L4, by Jason Clifford of ukfsn.org, an ISP which he runs using Linux. All profits of ukfsn.org are used to fund free software in the UK.

Due to technical problems with molotov, LAN signups did not open as expected at 11pm on Saturday evening. To ensure the signups remain fair, member signups have been moved back to 12 midday, Sunday (today), 18/01/2004. Guest signups will remain at 11pm next Saturday.

Photos have been moved. The terms of society hosting were discussed: we provide DNS, mail, 20Mb of webspace (additional space can be purchased at the usual rate of 2.50 per 100Mb) and require that they purchase any domain they want to use and that the webmaster be a member of CompSoc.

The Linux User Group had organised a free guest lecture by Dave Jones, a key developer of the Linux kernel, on Wednesday 26th November. Unfortunately it has had to be postponed due to forces beyond our (and his) control. It will be re-arranged for some future time, and announced on the LUG website.

The Warwick Paintball society is organising its second game of the term for the weekend at the end of week 9, the weekend after the LAN and we are hoping to make it a joint event between us and paintball.

A LAN was held. There were problems with the music server, related to the CGIs hogging CPU causing the music to skip. As noted before, the next LAN will be held in B213/4 which is a bit smaller than the LIB rooms. We also have B219 for power leeching and if people want to sleep.

We have been informed by Senate House that we are actually in Lib 1 for the LAN party. This is the downstairs room, which means you don't need to lug your computers quite so far :)
