Agenda 1: Welcome Week
-
Meet the exec post, using the same approach Harm used last year.
-
Jakub finishes his internship on 11 September and will do the announcement, update the spreadsheets, and confirm quotes and photos.
-
Mikey and Jakub will split the workload.
-
Mikey finishes his internship on 25 September, so a deadline may be needed.
-
Last term, adding additional information and fun facts was suggested. Tom F is happy to do this if the information can be collected from people.
-
Tom F may consider breaking the post up by grouping people into different roles, with one or two roles per post depending on the number of people in each role.
-
Stagger posts over the days leading up to Welcome Week.
-
Do another Meet the Welfare Officers post with the updated members.
-
Hype posts could include:
- Photos from last year.
- Sneak peeks into what is being planned, such as a corner of a slideshow or a gaming quiz.
- A timeline of highlights alongside the normal Term 1 calendar, including socials and major gaming events (TBC).
- Welcome Week events, if appropriate.
-
Remind people to use the post request bot and ensure they know it exists: publicity for publicity.
Agenda 2: Reels
-
Ian and Jakub have made a reel; it needs to be edited and put together.
-
A publicity budget could be explored for items such as props and costumes for reels.
-
Tom F will provide a budget if possible.
-
Ian is looking at a scheme where people can submit academic videos to the UWCS YouTube account.
-
Submissions could be made monthly or fortnightly, in a Veritasium/3Blue1Brown style, potentially with a cash prize and a specific sponsor.
-
People may be willing to make videos for free; Jakub noted that a cash prize may not be necessary.
-
Videos could also be edited into shorter clips for Instagram.
Agenda 3: Recording Talks
-
This should be brought up with Tech.
-
A few vivas could be shared.
-
Tom F will tell Tech that the default should be to record talks where possible.
-
Tech officers need to be alerted when recording is required.
-
A general Apollo integration could be set up to alert tech officers when a new event is added to the website.
Agenda 4: LinkedIn
-
Use the post request system to publicise academic events.
-
Tech is in charge of recording, but photography is more ad hoc and can be handled by exec using their phones.
-
Keep on top of event runners to ensure this happens.
Agenda 5: Exec Colours Revamp
- There are five colours, and they will remain the same for now; there are bigger priorities.
Agenda 6: Work Split
- The work split is not bad. At the moment, Jakub owes Mikey a post.
Point 7: Film Poster-Style Posts for Main Weekly Events
-
Mikey may create these, depending on whether they have time.
-
An automated system is already in place for weekly events.
-
Tom F is happy with how publicity functions.
-
Four gold sponsors are involved in Whack, with two more.
