I hope that the first week of term has treated you well. We've got lots of exciting events to fill up your second week, ranging from academic courses and talks to circling and even football??

Tickets to the Warwick Hackathon will be released this week - one of the biggest events of the year!

🎟️ Warwick Hackathon Ticket Sale 🎟️

The time is finally here

Tickets for WHACK (Warwick Hackathon, 26th - 27th October) will be released on Monday morning. But act fast as there are only 150 tickets available!

For those who don't know, a Hackathon is an event where you have a short span of time (in this one it is 24 hours) to develop software from a prompt (which will be revealed on the day). They're a great thing to put on your CV, and you can showcase what you have developed as one of your projects.

We are running a C Course from weeks 2 to 4 brought to you by the wonderful academic officer Ed. This is open to anyone who is interested and to all levels of expertise - but will be incredibly useful to first years who are studying CS132 - Computer Organisation and Architecture and also second years needing to brush up their C knowledge for CS241 - OS and Networks.

We are going to be circling this Wednesday followed by a lovely night of POP brought to you by the famous Disco Dave.

Unfortunately, tickets for POP have been sold out, but for those of you who are attending, the theme for the circle is the wild West!

💬 Oracle Talk 💬

I need an oracle for some of my courseworks...

We are getting an industry talk from the tech company Oracle this week. This will be super useful for anyone considering a career in software development.

Hear from Jake as he talks about how the "best" way to use your time at university might not have been what you first expected. He'll talk about finding out what you enjoy about university, and how a drive to do something just a little bit stupid ended up being the most worthwhile.

We will be playing 5 aside football this week at the sports and wellbeing center. Meet outside around 15 minutes before! :)
