We are pleased to announce that our games server, insomnia, has (eventually) been installed onto the Piazza network. We are in the process of setting it up to provide numerous services, including a variety of games servers. If you have any suggestions for games or other facilities this server could provide, do not hesitate to contact the exec.

The signup process just got even quicker! Now, instead of wading through the menu of the left, finding the event, going to the 'Options' page - you just drop-down the list, and click. "But where is this?", you ask. On the homepage, of course - just to the right of the news items!

Yes, it's here again. It's that time of year when you wrap lots of things up one night, only for them to be unwrapped the next morning. Anyway, I'm just here to say one thing: Happy Christmas!

Sun 13 Oct
Over the past week, and it particular on Saturday 12th, the network connection between the Students' Union building (where Molotov is located) and the rest of the University network has been having some problems. It should be noted that Molotov has been up and running the whole time, although access to it has been intermittent. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused, but unfortunately this situation is beyond our control.

And, finally, it's here. The new version of the CompSoc website... and by Bob it's taken some effort. I expect it will be a bit odd to navigate at first, since the main changes have been to do with the organisation of the pages - hopefully it's a bit more logical now (yeah, I wish :) ). As always, you find something broken, incorrect, or just any comments generally, send them on the back of a postcard, to J.G.Ross@warwick.ac.uk.

Email on molotov is sorted. You can send and receive email if you have a molotov account, using your normal molotov username and password. You can even send and receive it securely, with the connection between your computer and molotov all nice and encrypted. For details, see this document

By the time you all read this, the new server will be installed and working fine (I hope!). If there are any problems with the new setup, please mail me. Those of you with dynamic PHP scripts will need to change them; for details, go to http://www.warwickcompsoc.co.uk/molotov/php.cps. We will, at some point, have pages further detailing the services that Molotov MkII will offer you.

Tue 20 Aug
In order to provide better services for our members in the coming academic year, we're intending to replace the machine that is currently being 'molotov' with a brand new, sparkling, funky server. Or something. Anyway, the net effect is that services will be unavailable for a period from about 5pm onwards on Thursday (22nd) until midday-ish on Friday (23rd). Any changes made to data on molotov (eg IRC and user accounts) may not be stored. I will post another news item once everything's done. Mail me with any problems or queries.

Wed 14 Aug
Those of you who use molotov for your email will have noticed that email's been broken for a week or two. This is now fixed. Email posted to @warwickcompsoc.co.uk will be delivered correctly. Users wishing to post by using molotov should set their mail client to use smtp authentication with their molotov username and password, on port 8025. POP3 still works as normal on port 110. Email compsoc@warwick.ac.uk if you have any queries.
