New LAN guides

In anticipation of this weekend’s LAN, I’ve written two guides about how compsoc LANs work and what you should bring to them.

If you’ve not been to a compsoc LAN before, have a read of the ‘What to do’ guide. If you have, you may still find the ‘What to Bring’ guide handy.

See you all Saturday!

LAN and OSP

Just a reminder for those who don’t know; we’re holding a LAN party this weekend, from 10am Saturday until 10pm Sunday. So for all you guys who expressed an interest at the Fresher’s Fair, why not bring your PC along, and try kicking our arses? Details on the social events page.

Our OSP (Open Source Project) is coming along ok, but we need a new one this year… we’re holding a discussion (ok, argument more like) in Cholo 3pm this Wednesday. This meeting is to discuss the relative merits of the ideas put forward on Sunday’s OSP meeting, so come along if you want to be part of the new OSP (or complain if you can’t make it).

Molotov Access

Over the past week, and it particular on Saturday 12th, the network connection between the Students’ Union building (where Molotov is located) and the rest of the University network has been having some problems. It should be noted that Molotov has been up and running the whole time, although access to it has been intermittent. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused, but unfortunately this situation is beyond our control.

Welcome

Welcome to the University of Warwick Computing Society’s Webpage!

If you’re a member, welcome – and thanks for joining the society. If you missed us at Fresher’s Fayre, or have just decided that you’d like to join, the kind folks at Union North will be only too happy to sign you up.

Our first social is this Friday, at 7:00 in The Airport (“The Bar”). Afterwards, we’ll be heading off to ITS for the first gaming of the year, so feel free to come along and join in!

You can log in by clicking the ‘Members’ item on the left and then ‘Log in’, using the password and membership number that was mailed you recently. Use this to access the range of facilities provided on the site – including signups for our very popular socials!

Anyway, that’s about it for now – have fun!
